Flash in Mashups
ABUG Talk - Doug Marttila - work - blog

PowerPoint deck: images of non-Flash mashups showing mashup trends:
- Shopping - e.g., tree map of Amazon data
- Music - e.g. pics, bio, links to purchase for Radiohead
- Aggregators - e.g., home page w/ delicious, you tube, etc. feeds
- Search - e.g. comparing Google and Yahoo searches
- Business - e.g., purchasing billboard ads - Most business mashups (using Salesforce.com, etc) required signing up and logging in. But, this seems like the new interesting trend. APIs are stable and standard enough for businesses to use - and licenses changing to support commercial work
- Finally, and mostly, Maps - e.g., birdwatching in UK.

Software for building Flash content
What I use: Flash 8 Pro, Eclipse, FDT (eclipse plug-in not free), SOS (tracing app - free), MTASC (compiler - open source) My blog post on how to get all that set up.
If you don't want to pay for FDT, maby people like FlashDevelop. It's free. I haven't used it.
There are other options as well, check out OSFlash.
